Pilcrow is a typography-first Astro theme for writers who publish essays, notes, and newsletters. It builds to static HTML and stays out of the way: hierarchy comes from type, measure, and spacing, not from boxes and color.
How it reads
- Newsreader for text at about 65 characters a line, Inter for the interface, JetBrains Mono for code
- One rubric red for links, the pilcrow mark, and a drop cap at the start of each post
- Footnotes and tables, dark mode, works down to 360px wide
What's included
- Pages: Home, About, Blog, Contact, Privacy, Terms, and 404
- Five home page sections
- Blog with tags, pagination, RSS, sitemap, Open Graph metadata, and JSON-LD
- Posts in MDX, with type-safe content collections
- A contact form through Web3Forms, an analytics snippet, and UI strings in English and Korean
Under the hood
- Astro 7 and Tailwind CSS v4, no client-side JavaScript by default, Lighthouse 95+
- Static output: deploy to Cloudflare Pages, Vercel, or Netlify
- Everything site-specific (name, navigation, social links, SEO defaults) lives in one file, src/config.ts
- AGENTS.md for Claude Code, Cursor, and other AI coding tools
