A PDF resume tells a client what you claim. A portfolio site shows them what you did, and every project you publish becomes a page they can find, share and come back to. Dossier is a portfolio and resume Astro theme for people who sell their expertise: consultants, freelancers, designers, developers and small professional service firms.

It opens with your work, backs it up with case studies and client testimonials, and keeps a way to reach you one click from every page.

Three homepages, three ways to open

One leads with your name and a portrait, one with a short introduction and your numbers, and one with a full-bleed video and a bold headline. Pick the one that matches how you sell, and the rest of the site works the same behind it.

Proof lives in content files

Works carry categories and their own detail pages. Case studies follow a clear structure: overview, challenge, goals, process, solution and results. Testimonials include short video clips. Every list with an order has an order field, so changing a number moves the entry on the page.

Bring your own CMS, one collection at a time

The theme runs from local files with no configuration. When you want a CMS, set one switch to Contentful, Sanity, Strapi, WordPress or Shopify and add its credentials. Any collection the source does not provide falls back to the local files, so a half-migrated site still builds.

Retheme it from a single place

Colors, type sizes, spacing and radius are design tokens in one stylesheet, with the responsive steps alongside. Your own corrections go in a separate file that is never overwritten, and a style guide page shows every component at once.

Motion that respects the reader

Every effect is switched on by an attribute in the markup and tuned from one map in one script, so you can retime the whole site or turn an effect off in one place. Every effect is skipped entirely for a reader who has asked for reduced motion.

What this theme does not do

It is a portfolio site. It does not include a client portal, a login, a booking calendar or a back end.

Pricing is presented rather than transacted. There is no checkout, so invoices and payments belong in your own system.

There is no site search. The contact form is ready to connect to the form service or inbox you choose.

The demo photography and video are placeholders from Freepik. Replace them with your own before you launch.

Who it is for

  • Freelance designers and developers who win work on the strength of past projects
  • Consultants and coaches who need case studies and testimonials, not just a bio
  • Small professional service firms with published packages and prices
  • Anyone who would rather edit content files than fight a page builder

Customizing it

Works, case studies, posts, plans and testimonials are content entries, so adding to the site means filling in fields. Design changes start from the one stylesheet where the tokens live, and the style guide page shows the result across every component at once.

If you would rather not do it yourself, our team can customize this theme for you, from color and content changes through to new pages and custom functionality. Request a theme customization quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a CMS to use it?

No. The theme ships with all its content included and works as it is. A CMS is optional, and you can move one collection at a time.

Which homepage should I use?

Whichever matches how you sell. All three link into the same works, case studies, services and contact pages.

Can clients pay through the pricing page?

Not in this build. Plans are presented for comparison and route to contact. Billing lives in your own system.

Does it need a server to run?

No. It builds to static files and deploys to any static host. If you deploy to Cloudflare, keep the included Wrangler config.

Support

Support for template-related issues is included. New features and customization are available as a paid service. The Figma design file is included with your purchase.
